Rurouni Kenshin Volume Summaries:
Volume 1: 140 years ago in Kyoto, with the coming of the "black ships"... ...there
arose a warrior called Hitokiri Battosai (or Battousai). Felling men with his blood-stained blade, he closed the turbulent
bakumatsu era... ...and slashed open the age known as Meiji. Then he vanished, and with the flow of years, bcame a legend.
In the 11th year of Meiji, in the middle of Tokyo... ...this tale begins...
That's what the first text is in the
first book...
After that, it starts with Kenshin on the street at night. He meets Kaoru and saves her from "Hitokiri
Battousai" which later proves to be the younger brother of a guy who wants her to sell her dojo and goes to take it. Rurouni
saves her again. Then they rescue a young samurai boy, Myojin Yahiko from a yakuza group. After going to Akabeko, a pop
restaraunt, they find trouble and 19 year old Sagara Sanosuke assists and then later challenges Kenshin to a duel. Tho Kenshin
doesn't really want to, he accepts and they go to a river where Sano shows why his underground nickname is Zanza, the zanbatou
from eras ago. Start of fight...END of Real story... ...
The Meiji Romantic story is about Hitokiri Battousai being a total ogre of a legend and this girl name Chizu is being
harassed by a samurai yakuza and Rurouni runs off with her to the village. She invites him to her house but her grandfather
disapproves so he goes to sleep under a bridge. Chizu comes with some food but is then kidnapped. Rurouni then goes to her
rescue and, without killing, brings all the 500 or whatever samurai yakuza down while the grandfather and police guy thought
he would satsujin* them all...afterwards Rurouni leaves with the promise to visit again, a ribbon in his hair and the grandfather
hoping he can recover from his total hate of samurai since one saved his granddaughter's life...and think he's over 30, tho
then he's only 27...
